GM Uzbekistan (former UzDaewooAuto) reduced in Jan.-Mar. 2015 the car sales in Russia, its main export market, by 57.9 percent versus the same period of 2014 to 5,411 units as compared to 12,858 a year earlier, the Association of European Businesses (AEB) said in a message Apr. 9.

As the AEB said, in March 2015, the car plant sold in Russia some 1,757 cars against 4,604 vehicles in March 2014 (down by 61.8 percent).

In Q1, 2015, GM Uzbekistan's share of products in the Russian market was 1.4 percent versus 2.1 percent in the same period of 2014, and the joint venture took the 20th place in terms of the car sales in Russia.

The car plant didn't publish any data on the sales of individual car models.

Local experts estimated that the decline in the sales of cars produced in Uzbekistan is largely due to the overall decline in Russia's car market, which in March stood at 42.5 percent.

As previously reported, in 2014, GM Uzbekistan cut car sales in Russia by 38 percent as compared to 2013 to 37,695 units.

Currently, GM Uzbekistan produces nine models of cars. In 2014, it produced 245,700 cars against 246,031 in 2013 (a decrease by 0.13 percent).
