Two Iranian carmakers stop minibus, middle bus production

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Two Iranian carmakers stopped producing minibuses and middle buses in the second Iranian month of Ordibehesht (April 21-May 21).

Pishro Diesel Asia and Bahman companies had respectively manufactured one minibus and eight minibuses in the same month last year, Iran's ISNA news agency reported June 19.

However, the total production of minibuses and middle buses rose sharply by 115.8 percent in the country in the mentioned month.

Iran Khodro Diesel increased minibus and middle bus production from zero in Ordibehesht last year to 36 in the current year. Meanwhile, IKEA Deutsch reduced output from 10 to 5 in the same month year on year.

Iran plans to increase its annual car output to three million over the next six years, the Islamic Republic's Deputy Industry, Mines and Trade Minister Valiollah Afkhamirad said on May 4.

Afkhamirad who heads the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran put the country's current auto output at 1.1 million per year.
