Azerbaijani Central Bank to prevent currency speculation on holidays (UPDATE)

The Central Bank of Azerbaijan has announced the exchange rate for Jan.5, 2016 at 1.561 manats per US dollar.

The Central Bank of Azerbaijan has announced the exchange rate for Jan.5, 2016 at 1.561 manats per US dollar, said the message from the bank.

The exchange rate of manat to the US dollar will be at the level set on Dec.30 (1.5594 manats) till Jan.5.

The main purpose of setting the exchange rate for Jan.5 [first day after holidays] is to prevent the attempts for currency speculation on holidays, CBA told Trend.

The Central Bank calls on the population not to believe the rumors about possible changes in the exchange rate of national currency.

On the eve of the holidays, the regulator has covered the banks' currency demand at a sufficient level by holding auctions, said the message.
