Uzbekistan has used $3.156 billion worth of foreign investments in 2015, or 20.1 percent of the total volume of used capital investments in the same year, said the message from the country's State Statistical Committee.

Of the total volume of foreign investments, 59.1 percent was spent on the fuel and energy sector, 19.2 percent - communication, 6.1 percent - municipal engineering, 3.6 percent - light industry, 1.4 percent - chemical and petrochemical industries, 1.2 percent - mechanical engineering, 0.8 percent - agriculture and 8.1 percent - other sectors, according to the committee.

The total volume of investments used in Uzbekistan in 2015 stood at $15.7 billion in equivalent to the national currency, or 9.6 percent more than in the same period in 2014, said the message.

The State Statistical Committee said that 65.4 percent of investments were spent on implementing production projects. The largest amount of capital investments were used in the fuel and energy sector (23.7 percent) and development of transportation and communication (11.2 percent).

Uzbekistan planned to use $3.534 billion worth foreign investments in 2015.

This is while, according to the investment program for 2016, the country plans to use foreign investments valued at $4.042 billion.
