Tehran, Iran, April 24

By Khalid Kazimov -- Trend:

Central Bank of Iran and the country's Statistical Center have made contradictory reports over economic inflation rate in the country.

Central Bank of Iran has said that economic inflation rate in the country over the past 12 months was registered at 11.2 percent, adding that urban consumer price index (CPI) stood at 235.5, which shows 0.5 percent increase a month earlier.

However earlier on April 20 the Statistical Center of Iran reported that the inflation rate for the mentioned period was 10.8 percent.

According to the Statistical Center of Iran, the urban consumer price index (CPI) stood at 223.8, which indicated a 0.4 percent increase compared to the preceding month.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani took office in 2013 when inflation was over 40 percent. Over one year he managed to bring it down under 15 percent. By bringing the inflation rate to a single-digit number, he will materialize one of his presidential campaign promises.
