Azerbaijan names priority areas for development of relations with Qatar (UPDATE)

Azerbaijan is ready to develop relations with Qatar in the spheres of trade, industry, as well as agriculture, ICT, tourism and others, Niyazi Safarov, Azerbaijani deputy economy minister, said May 10.

He made the remarks at the Azerbaijani-Qatari business meeting.

Safarov noted that the countries have a good base for development of the trade turnover.

"Political relations between the two countries are at the highest level and the economic relations are developing as the continuation of these ties,' said the deputy minister.

He also added that Azerbaijan intends to develop these relations in the future.

Safarov said that mutual visits of the heads of states and various delegations contributed to the development of relations and cooperation between the two countries.

He added that today Azerbaijan is a dynamically developing country, which pays special attention to the modernization of the economy, implements reforms, including those aimed at business development, which includes reducing the number of licenses and suspension of entrepreneurs' inspections.

The favorable business environment in Azerbaijan creates good opportunities for foreign investments, said Safarov.

CEO of Qatar Investment Authority Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Saud Al-Thani, in his turn, said that political and economic relations between Azerbaijan and Qatar are at the highest level.

Al-Thani added that Azerbaijan's economic success is highly praised by Qatari businessmen, and the two countries have great potential for expansion of ties between the two countries' businessmen.
