Major Iranian wagon maker Pars Wagon is currently operating at 25 percent of its full capacity, the company's CEO Mohammad Reza Mokhtari said.

Mokhtari explained that low liquidity with railway companies and few orders are the reasons for the company's operation being 75% idle, he told IRNA news agency May 16.

The company is able to produce 1,000 cargo wagons, 100 passenger wagons, 70 subway wagons, and 40 locomotives each year, he stated.

Mokhtari said his company currently has undergone the construction of 50 passenger wagons and 600 cargo wagons with four Iranian railway companies.

The projects are worth a total of 2.5 billion rials ($82 million), the manager said.

He further said his company is also importing second-hand wagons from abroad to repair and then deliver to railway companies.

Mokhtari said his company has so far exported 550 wagons of various kinds to Cuba, 2,000 wagons to Syria, 300 wagons to Sudan, 66 passenger wagons to Bangladesh, and 160 passenger wagon bogies to China.
