By Elena Kosolapova – Trend:

Kazakhstan plans to export 8-8.5 million tons of grain, including flour in grain equivalent in the 2015-2016 marketing year, the country’s Ministry of Agriculture told Trend Sept. 14.

Earlier it was reported that during the last marketing year, grain export from Kazakhstan, including flour in grain equivalent amounted to 8.37 million tons.

The Ministry of Agriculture said that in January-July 2016 Kazakhstan exported 4.6 million tons of grain, including flour in grain equivalent, which is 1.3 million tons more than in the same period of 2015.

In the current marketing year, the main volumes of Kazakh grain will be exported to traditional importers – the countries of Central Asia (Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan), as well as Azerbaijan, Afghanistan and Iran.

“In addition, certain volumes of Kazakh grain and the products of its refining will be supplied to the Chinese market, the markets of the EU, North Africa and the Middle East,” the ministry said.

“The superiority of Kazakh grain in terms of quality, mainly for its protein content, may become one of the most important factors for it to enter new markets,” the ministry added.
