Asef Huseynov has been appointed deputy chairman of the Management Board of Azerbaijan’s Unibank OJSC at the general meeting of the bank’s shareholders, the bank said in a message Nov. 8.
Huseynov is currently a member of the management board and director for risk management of the bank, according to the message.
Asef Huseynov previously worked in various commercial banks and the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.
Unibank OJSC was established through the merger of the then two advanced commercial banks of Azerbaijan – Mbank (founded in 1992) and Promtekhbank (founded in 1994) on October 15, 2002.
Unibank is one of the biggest commercial banks of Azerbaijan. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) (15.15 percent of shares) and Deutsche Investitions-und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (DEG) (8.33 percent of shares) are among the shareholders of the bank.
