Czech companies want to offer new projects to Azerbaijan

Czech companies intend to offer new projects to the Azerbaijani side on cooperation in the spheres of construction, pharmaceutics, as well as financial sector.

Prospects of cooperation in these spheres, as well as the strengthening of trade and economic relations in general will be discussed during the next meeting of the Azerbaijani-Czech intergovernmental commission, to be held in Baku on Jan. 17-18, Azerbaijani Ambassador to the Czech Republic Farid Shafiyev told Trend.

The meeting will be held during the visit of Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Jan Mladek to Baku. The Czech delegation will include representatives of several ministries and agencies of the Czech Republic, as well as representatives of big Czech companies, said Shafiyev.

Jan Mladek also plans to hold several meetings at the Azerbaijani government and parliament.

The ambassador noted that during the visit, the Czech delegation will be accompanied by representatives of big Czech companies operating in the spheres of agriculture and food industry, finance, insurance, energy, logistics, construction, law, petrochemistry, engineering and various fields of economy.

Along with the meeting of the Azerbaijani-Czech intergovernmental commission, it is also planned to hold a business forum with the participation of the two countries’ businessmen. Organizers of the forum are the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) and Azerbaijan’s Economy Ministry.

The Czech Republic ranks 12th among major importers from Azerbaijan.

Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic amounted to $312.02 million in January-November 2016 and $214.17 million of this amount accounted for the export of Azerbaijani products to the Czech Republic.

The specific weight of the Czech Republic in Azerbaijan’s total export was 2.58 percent in 11 months of 2016.
