Kazakhstan has sent the first batch of grain to Vietnamese port of Ho Chi Minh City

Kazakhstan has sent the first batch of grain to Vietnamese port of Ho Chi Minh City, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (Kazakh railways) said in a message on Jan. 19.
The grain will be shipped through the Chinese port of Lianyungang.

It is a joint project of Kazakh railways’ subsidiary - KTZ Express and the Chinese-Kazakh international logistics company of Lianyungang.

Vice-president of KTZ Express Yerzhan Kulakov said that the grain will be shipped in sacks loaded to railway containers. It will reduce the time of grain transshipment at Dostyk station located at Kazakh –Chinese border.

Kazakhstan is one of the ten largest grain exporters in the world. Every year the country exports about 8 million tons of wheat. According Kazakh Agriculture Ministry data, in 2016 Kazakhstan harvested 17.8 million tons of wheat.
