By Huseyn Hasanov – Trend:

Turkish businessmen are interested in strengthening their positions in the promising Turkmen market, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Yildirim Tugrul Turkes said.

He made the remarks in Ashgabat at a meeting with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported May 1.

“Turkey attaches special importance to development of traditionally friendly, fraternal relations with Turkmenistan,” Turkes was quoted as saying in the report.

Turkmenistan’s policy of positive neutrality, openness and wide international cooperation enjoys recognition and support of the world community, he added.

Berdimuhamedov, for his part, noted that Turkmenistan pays much attention to strengthening of the constructive interstate dialogue, which has reached a qualitatively new level in recent years.

The sides exchanged views on the prospects for expanding cooperation.

Turkish companies implement large-scale projects in Turkmenistan in such sectors as transport, fuel and energy, communications, agriculture, construction, trade, and water resources management.
