Railway cargo transportation up in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan increased cargo transportation by railways by 14.3 percent to 114.98 million tons in January –April 2017 compared to the same period of 2016, according to Kazakh Statistics Committee data. Revenues from railway cargo transportation increased by 7.4 percent to 206.97 billion tenges (313.5 tenges = $1) in this period.

In total, about 1.09 billion tons of cargo was transported by all types of transport in the country in January- April 2017, or 2.1 percent more than in the same period of 2016. Revenues from cargo transportation by all types of transport hit 602.99 billion tenges in the reporting period.

Cargo transportation via pipelines decreased by 2 percent in Kazakhstan in January-April 2017 compared to the same period of 2016 and stood at almost 75.14 million tons. Revenues from cargo transportation via pipelines in Kazakhstan decreased by 14.9 percent and totaled 361.96 billion tenges during the period.

Cargo and baggage transportation by car and urban transport increased by 1 percent to 898.88 million tons, revenues from cargo transportation by car and urban transport hit 30.42 billion tenges.
Air transportation increased by 26.1 percent to 6,148 tons, revenues from air transportation increased by 8.7 percent and amounted to 1.65 billion tenges.

Sea transportation decreased by 12.6 percent to 644,130 tons, revenues from sea transportation decreased by 14.4 percent to 1.96 billion tenges.
