Turkish Airlines (THY) is interested to acquire Italy’s air carrier Alitalia, which turned out to be in a difficult financial situation, the Turkish media outlets reported June 7.
Meanwhile, more than 30 companies have shown interest in acquiring Alitalia, according to the reports.
The Italian company’s management announced the beginning of the bankruptcy procedure.
In April, Italy’s Minister of Economic Development Carlo Calenda said that the government will allocate about 400 million euros for the period of emergency management of the company.
The company’s management announced that currently, the evaluation of proposals is being conducted in order to determine the most profitable company for selling Alitalia.
Alitalia was created in 1946 as Aerolinee Italiane Internazionali.
