Assets of Uzbekistan’s largest commercial bank up 15% in 2016

Assets of the Uzbek National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity, the largest commercial bank in the country, increased in 2016 by 15.4 percent compared to 2015 to hit 20.426 trillion soums, according to the bank’s financial report.

The assets were calculated in accordance with international financial reporting standards (IFRS).

The bank’s liabilities increased by 30.9 percent – up to 18.951 trillion soums in 2016, including customer deposits worth 6.407 trillion soums (a 6.5 percent increase).

The bank’s equity capital rose by 15.8 percent – up to 1.475 trillion soums in 2016, taking into account the authorized capital in the amount of 698.867 billion soums (a 6.1 percent increase) and retained earnings of previous years in the amount of 787.267 billion soums (a 27.9 percent increase).

The National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of Uzbekistan was established in September 1991. The bank is fully owned by the state.
