By Seba Aghayeva – Trend:

Azerbaijan and Slovenia intend to intensify the activities of the bilateral intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation, a diplomatic source told Trend Aug. 4.

The intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation was established in 2013 and its first meeting was held in the capital of Slovenia – Ljubljana same year.

Currently, the Azerbaijani and Slovenian governments are considering the possibility of intensifying the activities of the commission for the development of trade and economic cooperation between two countries.

The economic cooperation between two countries currently covers such areas as information and communication technologies (ICT), industry, engineering and construction.

The lion's share of Slovenian exports account for the products of pharmaceutical companies.

Furthermore, furniture manufacturers also supply their products to the Azerbaijani market.

For instance, Slovenian Alples Company supplied the furniture to the Olympic village during the Baku 2015 European Games.

Both countries also have good potential for the development of cooperation in the tourism sector.

According to the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Slovenia has reached $9.4 million level in January-June of 2017, which, by 1.95 percent, is less compared with the same period of 2016.
