Cargo transportation through TRACECA’s Azerbaijani section up

Azerbaijani section of TRACECA (Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia) saw transportation of 25.65 million tons of cargoes in January-June 2017, which is 7.4 percent more than in the same period of 2016, said a report issued by Azerbaijan’s State Statistics Committee.

Some 60.5 percent of the total cargo was transported by vehicles, 25.8 percent by railway and 13.7 percent by ships, said the report.

According to the report, 19.6 percent of the transported cargo accounted for transit of cargo.

TRACECA is an international cooperation program in the field of transportation between the EU and partner countries in Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia. The organization has a permanent secretariat in Baku.

TRACECA member states are Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Moldova, Romania, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Iran.
