Turkey keen to increase number of logistics centers – transport ministry

Turkey is interested in increasing the number of logistics centers, the Turkish Ministry of Transport, Maritime and Communications told Trend, Aug 31.

According to the ministry, an increase in the number of logistics centers contributes to the growth of the Turkish economy.

Twenty one logistics centers are planned to be built in Turkey in a near future, said the ministry.

"Such logistics centers as Samsun-Gelemen, İstanbul-Halkali, Eskisehir-Hasanbey, Denizli-Kaklik, İzmit-Kosekoy, Usak and Balikesir-Gokkoy have already been commissioned in Turkey," the ministry said.

The construction of a logistics center is underway in Turkey’s Kars province, the ministry said.

"Such logistics centers as Kahramanmaras-Turkoglu, Bilecik-Bozuyuk, Erzurum-Palandoken, Mersin-Yenice, Konya-Kayacik and İzmir-Kemalpasa are under construction," the ministry said.

Logistics centers are also planned to be opened in Istanbul, Mardin, Sirnak, Kayseri, Sivas, Bitlis and Karaman provinces, said the ministry.

The construction of a logistics center in the country’s Kars province is envisaged as a part of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway project, which is 25 percent completed.

The logistics center is expected to be put into operation in the country’s Kars province on October 30, 2018.

The foundation of another new logistics center was laid in the country’s Konya province on August 19, 2017.
