New tourism, recreational zones may appear in Azerbaijan

It is planned to create new tourism and recreational zones in Azerbaijan, said the report on the evaluation of the results of measures reflected in the “Strategic Roadmap for development of specialized tourism industry in Azerbaijan” in the first half of 2017.

According to the report, in October 2016, letters were sent to the executive authorities of Azerbaijan’s Lankaran, Masalli, Jalilabad, Lerik, Yardimli, Bilasuvar, Astara, Gazakh, Samukh, Shamkir, Goranboy, Gadabay, Dashkesan, Aghstafa, Naftalan, Goygol, Tovuz, Gobustan, Shamakhi, Ismayilli, Gabala, Oghuz, Sheki, Gakh, Zakatala and Balakan districts with a request to provide information on tourist-friendly areas.

“The executive authorities of all the above mentioned districts submitted proposals for the establishment of tourism and recreational zones,” the report said. “A working group was established, and this working group examined the proposed territories in the southern and western districts of Azerbaijan. Schedule was approved for the creation of tourism and recreational zones.”
