India intends to expand trade and transport co-op with Azerbaijan

Azerbaijani and Indian governments will discuss the development of relations in investment making, trade, transport, ICT, education, Azerbaijani embassy to India told Trend on Sept. 19.

The discussions will be held as part of another meeting of the Azerbaijan-India intergovernmental commission to be held in late November 2017.

Azerbaijan and India are cooperating in the oil and non-oil sectors. During the upcoming meeting it is planned to discuss the possibilities for intensifying cooperation between the two countries.

One of the priorities for bilateral cooperation is ICT and pharmaceutics. Indian pharmaceutics is known all over the world today. India supplies medicines to all developed markets.

India is ready to offer Azerbaijan medicines at lower prices, which is not lower in quality, and which is testified by international certificates.

The recent meeting of the intergovernmental commission was held in Baku in 2016.

Following the meeting, Azerbaijan and India signed a protocol implying the expansion of cooperation between the two countries in trade, investment making, transport, industry, energy, agriculture, tourism, healthcare, pharmaceutics, education and information technologies.

Azerbaijani Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Huseyngulu Baghirov is the co-chairman of the intergovernmental commission from the Azerbaijani side.

According to the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and India amounted to $337.59 million in January-August 2017. The trade turnover between the two countries increased by 9.1 percent in January-August 2017 compared to the same period of 2016.
