By Ali Mustafayev – Trend:

One of the most attractive land routes for the foreign trade and transit flow between Kazakhstan and Turkey is the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Cargo transportation through this route is expected to grow.

“Our experts estimate that trade between the countries that aim to send goods via the China–Trans-Caspian–Turkey–Southern Europe route will increase 1.5 times by 2020,” a source in the Kazakh Ministry for Investment and Development told Trend.

The source added that in order to develop this route, Kazakhstan is actively developing its transport and logistics infrastructure to ensure non-stop cargo flow through the country.

“Construction of the Zhezkazgan-Beineu railway (1,039 km), which started to operate in 2014, reducing the distance from the Dostyk station to the Aktau port by 1,000 km, has been the first significant step made by the Kazakh government in this direction.”

Earlier, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev talked on new possibilities of the joint transportation and transit projects with Turkey. Although there is no any official announcement yet, bilateral cooperation in this sector is expected in near future.
