By Azad Hasanli – Trend:

Azerbaijani government is considering introduction of tax incentives for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), a source in the government has told Trend.

In particular, benefits for SMEs will be related to profit tax and income tax.

“New benefits suggest only partial exemption from these taxes and for a certain period. The government is not yet considering the full exemption from any taxes for SMEs,” the source said.

However, the source noted that this is only the initial version of the package of proposals, which has not been yet agreed.

“The issue of supporting small and medium entrepreneurs is reflected in strategic road maps, and now the government considers various options. However, it is difficult to say what support measures will be implemented.”

The Strategic Road Map for the manufacture of small and medium entrepreneurship-level consumer goods in Azerbaijan, approved in late 2016, provides for a variety of measures to support SMEs.
