The production of agricultural products in Karaganda region, as well as the functioning of the agricultural cooperatives must be taken under strict control, said the head of the local executive body (Akimat) Yerlan Koshanov, during the meeting of the local officials.

The region experiences lack of agricultural production, although there are 73 agricultural cooperatives.

Presently, only 15 out of 73 agricultural cooperatives of the Karaganda region function, producing and selling its products, according to the Deputy Head of the local Akimat Serik Shaydarov, the press service of the Akimat said in a message.

“Less than half of the cooperatives of the region are provided with necessary equipment. In Zhanaarkinsk and Osakarovsk districts, no cooperative has any equipment. In the Shetsk district, there is no work at all, although the agricultural cooperatives have long been required to supply the domestic market with products,” said Shaydarov.

Karaganda region produces 631 tons of milk and 77 tons of meat per year.

“We need no quantity of cooperatives, we need their quality. We must work with each cooperative individually. They should not stand idle,” said the head of the region.
