Kazakhstan starts reconstruction of strategically important road

Kazakh government launched the reconstruction of a road from the country’s Aktobe region to Atyrau region, the press service of the Ministry of Investment and Development said in a message.

The length of the road is 500 kilometers and it is expected to provide short and comfortable way from Aktobe to Atyrau and Mangystau and further to Russia and the countries of Central Asia and Persian Gulf.

The ceremony, marking the start of the work was attended by the Chairman of the Committee for Roads of the Kazakh Ministry of Investment and Development Mereke Pshembaev and the head of the executive body (akimat) of the Aktobe region Berdibek Saparbayev.

The officials from a number of contracting companies, including JSC Todini Costruzioni Generali SpA (Italy), SPIC Accord (Azerbaijan), Tashiapi Inshaat (Turkey), Ant Inshaat (Turkey), as well as the international engineers represented by the "Dongsung" company (Korea) also participated in the ceremony.

The reconstruction of the Aktobe-Atyrau sites will involve funds from several International Financial Institutions, such as the Asian Development Bank and the Islamic Development Bank.

The Islamic Development Bank will allocate $215 million for the reconstruction of the Aktobe – Kandyagash part of the project (156 kilometers). Asian Development Bank, in turn will provide $240.3 million for the reconstruction Kandyagash – Makat part of the project (299 kilometers).
