Turkmenistan studies experience in water resources management

A workshop of the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC) was held in Ashgabat, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported Nov. 8.

The workshop was dedicated to the integrated water resources management principles.

The CAREC founders are Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the European Commission.

Among the participants of Ashgabat’s workshop were representatives of the country’s Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economy and Development and the National Committee for Hydrometeorology under the Cabinet of Ministers.

"We are reviewing the world experience in rational use of natural resources and advanced methods of irrigation," Kurbaniyaz Khommadov, employee of the department at the Turkmen State Water Engineering Research and Production Institute under the country’s Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources, said at the workshop.
