The representatives of the Kazakhstan Center for Modernization and Development of Housing and Communal Services (Kazcentre HCS) and the Japan Association for Trade with Russia and the new independent states (ROTOBO) held a meeting in Astana to discuss the implementation of Japanese water-supply technologies in Kazakhstan.

The innovative technologies in the water supply field are of high demand in some of the Kazakh cities and regions, including Shymkent, Karaganda and Astana cities, where the Japanese specialists intend to bring their technologies, the Ministry of Investment and Development of Kazakhstan said in a message.

The Japanese delegation was represented by the Toray Industries Inc., Mitsui & Company Ltd and Mitsubishi Corporation.

Japanese companies presented their technologies, including products for water purification with membranes use and technology to eliminate and drain corrosion of heating and water distribution pipes.

Japan occupies one of the leading places in the field of water supply. The water supply system in Tokyo serves about 13 million people and is one of the largest and best centralized water supply systems in the world.

The length of its underground pipes is half the length of the earth's equator, and the loss of water on the way from rivers and lakes to a plumbing is only 3.1 percent.

KazCenter HCS currently searches the best options for introduction of innovations in the sector of housing and communal services of Kazakhstan, and the Japanese companies are expected to be first significant partners of Kazakhstan in this field.
