Foreign ministries of Kazakhstan and Bulgaria held political consultations aimed at intensifying the whole range of relations, including trade and economic cooperation, said the Kazakh Foreign Ministry’s press service in a message.

The Kazakh delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Roman Vasilenko, and the Bulgarian delegation – by Deputy Foreign Minister Yuri Sterk.

The parties discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in the political, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, and exchanged views on topical issues of the regional and international agenda.

The Bulgarian side regards Kazakhstan as a key partner in Central Asia and expresses its principled willingness to support the policy of further strengthening the cooperation with Bulgaria at the pan-European level, during its presidency in the European Union in the first half of 2018.

Noting the substantial growth in trade turnover in the current year, the diplomats of the two countries stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in energy, investment, agriculture, trade and tourism, as well as efficient use of the transit and transport potential of the two countries.

An agreement was reached to boost cooperation in these areas with active involvement of representatives of the two countries’ business circles.
