Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 17
By Azad Hasanli – Trend:
The State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of Azerbaijan has proposed to reduce the minimum amount of soft loans for women entrepreneurs in the country from 5,000 to 1,000 manats, Sevinj Mammadova, senior adviser of the committee, said.
She made the remarks Nov. 17 at the conference titled “Development of Women Entrepreneurship in Azerbaijan” held in Baku within the Global Entrepreneurship Week.
She noted that it is difficult for women to get a loan because its minimum amount is 5,000 manats.
“As far as rural women are concerned, in most cases they don’t own any property, and they don’t even have a car registered under their names,” she said.
She noted that the committee had already sent the relevant proposals to the Azerbaijani Economy Ministry. (1.7002 manats = 1 USD on Nov. 17)
