Kazakhstan’s Kostanay region developed a plan on the expansion of local tourism for 2018-2022. The plan and its implementation were discussed during a meeting of the local executive body (akimat) on Nov.20.

“The plan is structured into sections and contains 73 action items. The government allocated 5 million tenge for the development of the plan, 2.1 million of which were already spent,” said the Deputy Head of the regional administration Rosa Goryannaya during the meeting, Kazakh media reported.

The manager of the project, the representative of the consulting company working on the development of the project Evgeny Fix, in turn said that the participants of the project, first of all, assessed all the parts of the region to determine the tourism potential of each of them.

“The evaluation was carried out according to the following criteria: tourist resources available in districts and cities, institutional and related resources. Kostanay, Rudny, Lisakovsk, Mendikarinsk, Altynsarinsk districts have the highest potential for tourism attraction,” said Fix.

The akimat also intends to build a mini-sanatorium and to reconstruct the already existing sanatoriums of the region.

The estimations show that the project will require 4 billion tenge on its implementation, and the most part of the funds will be accounted for the investors.
