Azerbaijan reveals its non-oil export revenues

Azerbaijani companies exported non-oil goods worth $149.6 million in October 2017, according to the Export Review, published by the Center for Economic Reforms Analysis and Communication on Nov. 20.

According to the Center, 475 local companies participated in export operations during the month.

Excluding oil and gas, Azerbaijan mainly exported peeled hazelnuts ($26.6 million), date ($21.6 million), gold ($17.2 million), fresh fruit except apples ($5.8 million) and apples ($5.2 million) in October 2017.

A major part of the Azerbaijani products were exported to Russia ($58 million), Turkey ($20 million), Switzerland ($17 million), Italy ($13 million) and Georgia ($9 million).

In total, Azerbaijan exported non-oil goods worth $1.22 billion in January-October 2017 and 1,723 companies took part in export operations.

The main non-oil product exported abroad were tomatoes during the period. Azerbaijan exported tomatoes worth $131.5 million, which is followed by gold ($98.5 million), peeled hazelnuts ($88.6 million), polyethylene ($59.5 million) and electricity ($37.3 million) in January-October 2017.

Russia ranks first among importers of Azerbaijan’s non-oil products. In the period, goods worth $424 million were exported to Russia, which is followed by Turkey ($243 million), Switzerland ($115 million), Georgia ($108 million) and Turkmenistan ($48 million).

The report says that the export of electricity increased by 90 percent, while export of export of tea rose by 68 percent, export of fruits and vegetables – by 39 percent, and the export of goods of chemical industry – by 30 percent in January-October 2017 as compared to the same period of 2016.
