Uzbekistan's commercial banks began to issue preferential microcredits for members of low-income families, who want to engage in certain types of activity, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan reported.

The loans are issued in accordance with the previously approved regulation “On procedure for allocation of microcredits by commercial banks to provide employment for low-income families”.

Commercial banks began to provide preferential microcredits based on the register of low-income families, which is prepared by the working group.

The working group consists of representatives of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan, the Public Charitable Foundation "Mahalla", the Council of Ministers of Karakalpakstan, the regional authorities and Tashkent authority, as well as commercial banks.

Microcredits are allocated to borrowers for the following purposes: purchase of sewing machines, fabrics and other consumables, inventory for handicraft activities, household, computer and other equipment, as well as various tools for self-employment; development of homestead land plots (for organization of small greenhouses, purchase of livestock, poultry, purchase of garden tools).

Microcredits are issued in the amount up to 100 times of the minimum wage (to date, 15 million soums) at a rate of 4% per annum with a six-month grace period for up to three years.

To receive microcredits, members of low-income families must apply to the regional branches of commercial banks at their place of residence.

The application for obtaining a loan is considered by commercial banks within three working days.

The official exchange rate for Nov. 23 is 8085.11 UZS / USD.
