Uzbekistan restores activity of over 400 unprofitable companies

The activity of 405 companies has been restored in Uzbekistan, the Uzbek State Committee for Assistance to Privatized Enterprises and Development of Competition said in a report.

Around 40,000 privatized companies were reviewed. It was found out that about 4,000 of those companies are not fully used.

Investment projects have been worked out to restore the activity of 2,700 companies. More than 3,700 jobs have been created. After the projects covering 2,700 companies are implemented, it is planned to create more than 25,000 new jobs.

At the same time, privatization programs are being implemented. As part of these programs in 2015-2017, a total of 1,729 state facilities were privatized. Moreover, 1,056 of those facilities were transferred to the entrepreneurs at zero cost.

In particular, the entrepreneurs were provided with 288 facilities in January-September 2017 to establish their business, produce new, competitive products. Meanwhile, 119 of those facilities launched their activity. About 3,000 employees were employed.
