Walnut plantations on an area of more than 1,500 hectares are created on the basis of intensive technology in Gallaorol district of Uzbekistan’s Jizzakh region, the Uzbek Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations said in a message.

According to the message, this sphere has been developed following the president’s resolution "On the establishment and organization of the association of walnut producers and exporters" dated June 1, 2017.

One of Uzunbulok villagers Khusan Alimov said that a walnut tree does not require big expenses but brings a good income. So, 15 walnut trees are grown and more than 300 kilograms of walnuts are harvested in Alimov’s garden. At least, one walnut tree is grown in every house of Uzunbulok villagers.

The walnut, which is traditional for this region, will be intensively cultivated here on the basis of a special plan. At present, the work on the implementation of two projects on the creation of walnut plantations is being completed.

Walnuts and development of horticulture as a whole can become a significant sphere for improving the welfare of the local population in the region. Moreover, 175 projects are planned to be implemented in this sphere in 2017-2018, of which about 100 are planned to be implemented this year. The plantations of walnut, almond, pistachio trees are planned to be expanded.
