Change of climate in Kazakhstan may lead to a decrease of crop yields by 40 percent by 2050, said the project manager of "Development of the National Communication of the Republic of Kazakhstan within the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change” Saul Sakenov at the presentation of the convention on climate change.

"We made a forecast. We can lose about 30 percent of yields by 2030, and up to 40 percent by 2050, if we use no new technologies. We hope that the National Communication may provide us with information that will help to resolve this issue. We know that the Ministry of Agriculture works on these issues, as the country lost a significant share of the crop, especially in the previous year," said Sauket Sakenov, Kazakh media outlets reported.

The project manager also noted that number of extreme weather events, including heavy rains, winds and hail, increases in Kazakhstan, which may have influence on the countries agriculture production.
