Baku, Azerbaijan, Dec. 6

By Anvar Mammadov – Trend:

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is interested in cooperation with the Azerbaijani private companies, Aziz Haydarov, senior portfolio management specialist at ADB’s Azerbaijan Resident Mission, told Trend Dec. 6.

He added that promotion of private sector development is one of ADB's goals.

"From this point of view, Azerbaijan's initiatives outlined in strategic road maps are very important,” he said. “We will conduct consultations in this sphere both with the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy and private companies."

Haydarov added that ADB is ready to finance the Azerbaijani private sector through its corresponding department.

A dialogue will be carried out with the Economy Ministry for identifying the private sector's needs, providing the necessary infrastructure, and rendering support, he said.

“If the Azerbaijani government agrees, we will be pleased to work in this sphere,” Haydarov said. "As for partnership with the private sector, we are greatly interested in that. If there are good and real projects, our colleagues from the private sector operations department will be glad to consider them."

ADB was founded in 1966 and 67 states are its members. The bank’s headquarters is located in Manila, Philippines.

Azerbaijan became an ADB member in 1999. Since joining ADB, Azerbaijan has received grants and loans amounting to $4.1 billion.
