Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan define areas of co-op in agriculture

Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have discussed opportunities for the export of cattle meat, mutton, lamb, eggs, poultry meat, honey, bulls, sheep and horses.

The discussions took place within the meeting of Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation this week in Baku.

The parties agreed to conduct joint research on the mutual exchange of selection material resistant to drought, diseases, pests, and the sharing of experience in selection and testing of varieties of agricultural plants (wheat, corn, barley, rape, soybean and others) and production of their seeds.

The protocol signed following the intergovernmental commission envisages joint study of the experience of application of soil-saving and resource-saving technologies when growing grain and leguminous plants.

The sides agreed on joint cooperation in the field of variety testing of agricultural crops.

Azerbaijan also expressed interest in studying Kazakhstan’s experience in personnel training in various branches of agriculture, including horse breeding.

Azerbaijan’s trade turnover with Kazakhstan in January-October 2017 amounted to $115.5 million, according to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan.
