Hyundai Engineering ready to mull new projects with Turkmenistan

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has received Sang-rok Sung, CEO of South Korea’s Hyundai Engineering, Nebit-Gaz, an online newspaper, reported Dec. 13.

Sang-rok Sung said he was ready to present new proposals on mutually beneficial cooperation to the Turkmen side.

In his turn, the Turkmen president stressed the great opportunities for intensifying business ties.

During the meeting, the sides stressed that the priority vectors of cooperation are the introduction of innovations, implementation of joint projects in processing of natural resources, and diversification of the industrial sector of the Turkmen economy, including fuel and energy industries.

South Korea’s LG and Hyundai together with Japan’s TOYO are building a polyethylene and polypropylene complex in Kiyanly, near the coast of the Caspian Sea.

According to the Turkmen side, the total trade turnover between Turkmenistan and South Korea has recently grown from $200 million to almost $2 billion.
