Uzbekistan's major iron ore deposit to be developed

The development of a large deposit of iron ore "Tebinbulak" has been launched in Karakalpakstan, Uzbekistan, Uzbek media reported.

The development of the Tebinbulak deposit, which has huge iron ore reserves, will be carried out in two stages.

As a result, starting from 2021, it will be possible to produce 1 million tons of steel per year. For the organization of work in this direction, a corresponding directorate was established under the joint-stock company "Uzbekiston Temir Yullari"

Currently, metallurgical products in the country are produced from scrap metal.

According to the data of the State Balance of Mineral Reserves, as of January 1, 2017, 1931 deposits were discovered in Uzbekistan, including 1043 deposits discovered during the years of independence.

The State Geology Commitee of Uzbekistan issued subsoil users 1014 licenses for the right to use subsoil blocks. Currently, foreign investors are offered 29 deposits and 111 promising areas of solid minerals. These include: precious metals - 12 deposits and 31 promising areas; non-ferrous metals - 18 areas; rare metals and rare earth elements - 11 deposits and 51 areas; ferrous metals - 3 deposits and 11 areas; radioactive - 3 deposits.
