Construction of the Istanbul-Izmir highway has been completed by more than 88 percent, the Ministry of Transport, Shipping and Communications of Turkey told Trend Dec.21
The ministry reported that this project is one of the ten important transport projects implemented in Turkey.
The total cost of the project is 10.51 billion lira and the construction of the motorway will be completed in 2018.
“The highway will shorten the travel time from Istanbul to Izmir - from 8 to 4 hours," the ministry said.
At present in Turkey, 50 transport and communication projects are being implemented.
Over 139 billion lira have been invested in realisation of these projects to date.
