Center for study of privatization problems created in Uzbekistan

The Uzbek Cabinet of Ministers has signed a resolution on creation of a Center for studies of issues of privatization, development of competition and corporate governance under the State Committee for Privatization, Demonopolization and Development of Competition.

The Center was formed through merge of the Center for Privatization Studies, Corporate Governance and the Securities Market and the Center for Improving Antimonopoly Policy.

The main objectives of the newly-established Center are to form the scientific and methodological basis for the development of privatized enterprises for opening of new workplaces, increase efficiency of operations, modernize production and ensure production of competitive products; study modern experience in development and implementation of "road maps" for the development of privatized enterprises and preparation of recommendations for its implementation in the republic; develop proposals on the main directions and mechanisms for increasing the effectiveness of state assistance to privatized enterprises on the basis of a system analysis of the activities of privatized enterprises; render assistance to the Republican Center for Training of entrepreneurial activity in the preparation of educational and methodological materials for training entrepreneurs who implement investment projects on the basis of privatized facilities, etc.

The Center will be financed through grants for the implementation of state scientific and technical programs, allocated upon the results of competitions conducted by the Agency for Science and Technology, the funds allocated to the State Committee at no charge through extrabudgetary fund to strengthen the material and technical base of the Center and others.
