Kazakhstan puts its int'l airport for sale

Kazakhstan's Kostanay international airport was put up for auction with a starting price of 862.1 million tenge for the second auction.

The first auction was scheduled for Dec. 20, but failed due to the lack of applications for participation, according to the website gosreestr.kz.

The next auction is scheduled for Jan.9. The second tender will be held on the same terms. In case of failure, the conditions for the privatization of the facility will be changed.

Kostanay Airport is among objects of the second wave of privatization in Kazakhstan. It is on the balance of the Investment and Development Ministry, and it is submitted for bidding by the Committee on Privatization of State Property of the Finance Ministry with a starting price of 862.1 million tenge. A guarantee contribution of the participant is set at the level of 129.3 million tenge.

The holder intends to transfer the airport for 4 years. Basic conditions: preservation of the object profile for 10 years and reconstruction of the passenger terminal. The cost of the object at the time of the targeted purchase will be bigger than the initial price.

Kostanay Airport was built in the 1970s. In 2016, the total income of the enterprise reached 620 million tenge, expenses - more than 571 million tenge.

The official exchange rate for Dec.28 is 331 KZT / USD.
