Uzbekistan plans to resume the issuance of government securities in 2018, including short-term government bonds and mid-term government treasury bonds, the country’s Central Bank told Trend.

The issuer of this type of government securities worth 1,000 soums will be the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan as always, according to the Central Bank.

Prior to that, the first type of securities was issued in 2007, the second – in 2011.

In 2018, the Central Bank will continue work together with the Ministry of Finance on development and implementation of regulatory and legal acts to improve operations with securities, in particular, on swap operations at the Uzbekistan Republican Currency Exchange.

The Uzbek state securities market has been operating since 1996, when the first issuance of short-term government bonds was carried out.

Mid-term government treasury bonds were issued in Uzbekistan for the first time in 2004 by the country’s Finance Ministry.
