Kazakhstan’s northern region to implement projects worth over $1B

Kazakhstan’s Akmola region has implemented 76 investment projects worth over 223 billion tenge, with creation of 7,700 job places within the industrialization map (2015 - 2019) of the country, said the speaker of the Kazakh parliament Nurlan Nigmatulin on January 5, during his official visit to the region.

He added that 11 more projects worth 528.3 billion tenge are planned to be implemented, with creation of 4,300 new jobs.

Gross harvest of cereals in the region in 2017 amounted to 5.1 million tons, according to Nigmatulin.

He also informed residents of Akmola region about the legislative work of the deputies of the parliament, noting that the deputies additionally sought funds in the amount of 22 billion tenge from the state budget for social needs of the region.

"This money will be earmarked to build schools, hospitals, repair and maintenance of cultural and sports facilities, reconstruction of roads, development of water supply and sanitation," the speaker said.
