Uzbekistan increases export of fruits, vegetables

Uzbekistan increased exports of fruit and vegetable products and processed products by 15.6 percent and brought its volume up to $708.8 million in 2017, Uzagroexport JSC told Trend.

In particular, export of fruits and berries rose by 17 percent up to $254.5 million, vegetables – by 30.7 percent up to $217.6 million, grapes – by 12.2 percent up to $159.5 million, fruit processing products and vegetables – by 4.1 percent up to $29.1 million.

Kazakhstan (46.7 percent of the total export volume), Russia (18 percent), Afghanistan (6.6 percent), China (5.7 percent), Turkey (4.5 percent), Kyrgyzstan (4.3 percent) and Iraq (1.7 percent) were major foreign trade partners of Uzbekistan in 2017.

On Dec. 12, 2017, the Uzbek government approved the Regulations on the order of export of fresh, dried and processed fruit and vegetable products.

Dried and processed fruit and vegetable products are exported by any enterprise for foreign currency without prepayment, opening a letter of credit, formalizing a bank guarantee and having a contract insurance policy from political and commercial risks.

Moreover, fresh and dried products can be exported without concluding a contract, and the amount should not exceed $20,000 on the day of registration of the export customs declaration.
