Number of enterprises in Uzbekistan's agricultural sector increases

In Uzbekistan, the share of newly created enterprises and organizations in the sector of agriculture, forestry and fisheries increased by 0.6 percentage points, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said in a message.

By late 2017, the number of newly created enterprises and organizations increased by more than 41,000 to 285,500 units, which is 25.2 percent more than in the same period last year.

"7.4 percent of the total number of operating enterprises and organizations accounted for the sector of agriculture, forestry and fisheries," the Committee notes.

As of Jan. 1, 2018, Uzbekistan registered 5,517 operating companies with the participation of foreign capital, of which 3,087 are joint ventures and 2,430 are foreign companies.

"159 enterprises from the total number of companies operating with the participation of foreign capital accounted for agriculture, forestry and fisheries," the committee notes.

As of Jan. 1, 2018, the number of family enterprises that passed state registration as a legal entity amounted to 12,184, of which 11,679 are active. Of the total number of 12 percent, or 1,401 enterprises are in the sector of agriculture, forestry and fisheries.

Preliminary data shows that the total volume of products (services) in the sector of agriculture, forestry and fisheries in 2017 amounted to 69,504 trillion soums .

The agriculture sector's share in the GDP structure increased from 18.1 percent in 2016 to 19.2 percent in 2017.

The share of agriculture in the GDP of Uzbekistan was 43.149 trillion soums (32.276 trillion soums in 2016). The industry's impact on growth is 0.4 percent.
