Food production in Kazakhstan increases

Kazakhstan's food producers manufactured products worth 1.3 trillion tenge in 11 months of 2017, which is 11.1 percent more in money terms than a year earlier, and 4.3 percent in real terms (including inflation) , Kazakh Energy Prom reported.

Bulk of the volume fell to Almaty and the adjacent area (351.5 billion tenge, an increase of 19.2 percent during the year), Kostanai oblast (171.9 billion tenge, an increase of 13.8 percent during the year) and South Kazakhstan (162.2 billion tenge, an increase of 13.4 percent during the year).

The largest growth in food production was registered in the processing and canning segment of fish and seafood - 32.4 percent per year in terms of value and by 19.2 percent in volume, taking into account inflation.

The output also increased in the segment of vegetable and animal fats (an increase of 8.3 percent in money terms and an increase of 7.6 percent in physical terms), meat and meat products (an increase of 19 percent in value and an increase of 5.7 percent in volume) , flour-milling products (an increase of 2.8 percent in value and an increase of 5.1 percent in volume).

Furthermore, the production of animal feed significantly increased - by 31.6 percent compared to a year earlier and by 27.2 percent in terms of volume.

Kazakhstan's food producers almost completely cover the need for flour and cereals. The level of self-sufficiency for bakery products is also high (Kazakh production provides almost 92 percent of demand in the sector in January-October 2017), edible salt (89.8 percent), dairy products (83.9 percent), meat products (83.5 percent), pasta (80.2 percent).
