Baku, Azerbaijan, Feb. 27

By Azad Hasanli - Trend:

Azerbaijan will change its approach to export delegations by expanding cooperation with the regions of foreign countries, a source in the Azerbaijani government told Trend Feb. 27.

Presently, export delegations organized by the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) are mainly focused on capitals and big cities of foreign countries, the source said. However, the Azerbaijani government plans to pay more attention to the regions as well, according to the source.

“In particular, Azerbaijan’s export delegations in Russia visited only big cities like St. Petersburg,” the source said. “From now on, Azerbaijan’s export delegations will visit other regions of Russia as well. The same goes for Kazakhstan - we want Azerbaijani entrepreneurs to establish cooperation not only with businessmen in Almaty or Astana cities, but also in other regions of Kazakhstan.”

The source noted that this year, along with Russia and Kazakhstan, special attention will be paid to the countries of the Persian Gulf.

At the same time, the organization of export delegations to China will continue, the source added.

“China is a very big, important and promising market for us,” the source said. “AZPROMO is trying to find the appropriate niche for Azerbaijani producers in China. We started exporting wine to China, but we want to expand the range of exported products. However, there are certain difficulties, for example, we cannot supply agricultural products to China because of the peculiarities of the Azerbaijani legislation. Azerbaijan must have an appropriate agreement with China to supply agricultural products to the country. Therefore, last year, the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patent of Azerbaijan signed a memorandum in China. This will allow us to enter the Chinese market.”
