Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover reaches almost $4B

Uzbek foreign trade turnover reached almost $4 billion, with services holding the largest share in export, machinery and equipment – in import, the press office of the Uzbek Stats Committee said in its message.

According to the message, the foreign trade turnover reached $3.9 billion, including $1.5-billion export and $2.4-billion import. Foreign trade balance is -$939.4 million. Export of energy resources and oil products increased 2.7 times compared to the same period of 2016, with natural gas export increasing 3.8 times and machinery and equipment export growing by 79.7 percent.

Food products export volume increased by 48.2 percent, with wheat export growing 3.1 times and fruit and vegetable products export increasing by 36.9 percent.

A lion’s share of the export volume fell to the services sphere – 32.6 percent or $486.1 million. Energy resources and oil products accounted for 23.2 percent of the total export and amounted to 345.7 millions.

The largest share in the total import was held by machinery and equipment – 36.7 percent or $893.2 million. Chemical products import amounted to $361.7 millions, accounting to 14.9 percent of the total volume.

Main foreign trade partners were Russia (25.6 percent), China (22 percent), Kazakhstan (9.3 percent), Turkey (5.8 percent) and South Korea (4.8 percent).
