Kazakhstan to increase agricultural exports to Iran (Exclusive)

Kazakhstan will continue the work on increasing of export of agricultural products to Iran, in particular, the country intends to expand the access to the Iranian livestock market, Head of the department of international integration of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Anna Semanenko told Trend.

"By early 2018, we have achieved an increase in the export of rape seeds to Iran by 5.9 times, barley by 1.4 times, legume vegetables by 1.9 times. We have also exported 11,000 tons of sunflower seeds worth $4.4 million," Semanenko said.

In 2018 Kazakhstan also plans to coordinate with Iran’s requirements for beef and live cattle import.

"Veterinary requirements for delivery of live sheep, frozen and chilled mutton from Kazakhstan to Iran have been agreed with the Iranian side, with further accepting of veterinary certificates for the supply of live sheep and chilled lamb from Kazakhstan to Iran," she said,

In September 2017, Kazakhstan also received a positive conclusion from the Ministry of Environment, Water Resources and Agriculture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the lifting of restrictions on the supply of large and small cattle from Kazakhstan to Saudi Arabia.

"Presently, we continue our negotiations with the Saudi side on the development and harmonization of a veterinary certificate for the export of cattle," Semanenko added.

Kazakhstan will also cooperate with the veterinary and phytosanitary services of Israel, Kuwait, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, the European Union countries on the possibility of supplying agricultural products to these countries.
