Saudi Arabia planning to invest in Tajikistan

Saudi Arabian businessmen and investors are planning to familiarize with conditions and opportunities of Tajik market for investments, Tajik agency CA-News reported on April 4.

The business circles of the Arabic state are expected to visit Dushanbe sometime in 2018.

Corresponding agreements were achieved by the two sides during the events held in Saudi Arabia on April 3. The second meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade-economic and cultural-technical cooperation between Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia was held in Riyadh on April 1-2. Additionally, business forums of the two countries were held in Riyadh and Jeddah on April 2-3.

The Tajik delegation was headed by Chairman of the State Investments and Property Management Committee Farrukh Khamralizoda. The events were co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Trade and Investments of Saudi Arabia Majid bin Abdulla Al-Bovardi.

“During the meeting, the sides discussed expansion of cooperation in trade, economy, investments, finances, banking, security, transportation, infrastructure, humanitarian aid, energy, agriculture, education, tourism, culture,” the press office of the State Investments and Property Management Committee of Tajikistan stated.

A final protocol of the intergovernmental commission meeting was signed on April 2.

“Businessmen and investors from Saudi Arabia are expected to arrive to Dushanbe to familiarize with Tajik market, its conditions and opportunities for cooperation with Tajik entrepreneurs,” the press office added.

Saudi Arabian businessmen invested $160.2 million in Tajikistan in 2007-2017.
